Appointment triage system
Last Updated: Thursday, 24 October 2024The service is designed to assist individuals who are unwell and require medical attention. Given the current high demand for GP appointments, we kindly ask patients to utilize the service appropriately. This system is structured to ensure that patients with the greatest need for an appointment are prioritized and matched with the most suitable clinician.
Do not schedule appointments if your needs involve documents, letters, or form completion. Such requests should be directed to reception, where appropriate actions will be taken.Sick notes, blood test results and requests, as well as medication reviews can be handled via telephone; there is no need for a face-to-face consultation with a GP. Furthermore, you do not need to see a GP to follow up on letters or referrals; this can also be managed at reception.
Same day appointments
Our duty doctor will be evaluating the information given to our care navigators who will take some basic details from you and ensure that you are available to attend for a same day appointment at the time allocated.
In order to run this service efficiently, where appropriate, we will be using text messages to contact patients with the details of their appointment. For those without mobile phones, you will be contacted back by a member of staff with the details.
Following day appointments
To ensure safe practice at all times, as safety is our greatest priority, the GP may suggest that certain conditions may be more suitably dealt with the following day or a later time. You will be informed of an appropriate appointment as required.
Having listened to all of the feedback form patients over recent months, both positive and negative, we hope this new system will ensure that we are making the most efficient and effective use of our available resources.
Book appointments online
If you want to avoid the phone queue you can use our online consultation system called PATCHS which is available via our website home page. This enables you to complete one of several different questionnaires appropriate to your symptoms or condition.
Using PATCHS is simple to use and contains extensive self-help and signposting resources.
Or the NHS APP.

Please note that healthcare practices across England are currently experiencing high demand. As a result, you may not always be able to secure an appointment when you need one. However, our priority is to ensure that patients receive the highest quality of care. You will either be offered the next available appointment or referred to Pharmacy First, a walk-in centre, or another service that is suitable for your needs.
