Home visits

Important: Essential home visits

Except in cases where someone is unable to leave their home for any purpose at all, it is better for them to be seen at the surgery. The doctor has access to the patients full medical record and a full range of medical equipment.

How to Book a Home Visit

If you need a home visit, please contact us as early as possible in the morning, preferably before 10:30 am.

You may be asked to provide the reception team with some details about why you require a home visit. This information helps the doctor assess urgency and prioritise visits, so please do not be offended.

When to Ask for a Home Visit

Our GPs carry out home visits only for patients who are truly housebound — that is, patients whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery.

When Not to Ask for a Home Visit

Please do not request a home visit unless the patient cannot make it to the surgery. Most children and other patients can be safely brought to the surgery by car. Many patients can be seen at the surgery in the same time it would take to visit one patient at home.
